The short version. This website does not use cookies, analytics, tracking pixels, external fonts or third-party scripts. The Deal Score calculator runs entirely in your browser. The only personal data we process is the email address you give us if you sign up to be notified about the book.

Hosting and server logs. The site is hosted on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. When you visit, your browser necessarily transmits your IP address so the page can be delivered. Our web server does not keep access logs for this website. Technical error messages are recorded only with shortened IP addresses that no longer identify you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (secure and reliable operation).

Notification list. If you enter your email address in the form “Keep me posted”, we store it together with your language, the topics you ticked (book out, paperback and hardcover, audiobook) and the time of sign-up and confirmation. We first send you a confirmation email; you are only added once you click the link in it (double opt-in). Unconfirmed requests are deleted after 14 days. We use your address only to tell you about these topics, never for anything else, and we do not pass it on. Every email contains an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing deletes your address immediately. Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you can withdraw at any time. The list is kept on our own server in Germany. Emails are delivered by the email service Resend (USA) on our behalf under a data processing agreement; if data reaches the USA, the EU standard contractual clauses apply. We do not store IP addresses with your sign-up.

Deal Score calculator. Everything you enter in the calculator is processed exclusively in your own browser. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else: the calculator pages carry a security policy (Content Security Policy) that technically prevents them from sending data to any server. By default your answers are not stored at all and disappear when you close the tab. Only if you tick “Remember my answers on this device” are they saved in your browser’s local storage, on your device only, where we have no access to them. You can delete them at any time with “Delete all my data” or by clearing your browser data. The PDF report is generated by your browser and saved on your computer. When you enter the unlock code from the book, only the fact that it was entered is kept in your browser until you close the tab.

Language. If your browser is set to German, you are shown the German pages. If you switch language yourself, your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers it; it is not sent to us.

Your rights. You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, to withdraw consent and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
